The best dog in America is now running around, begging my dad for treats. He pretended he didn’t like her but secretly loved her. Now they can hang out together. I didn’t have pets growing up. There’s a whole story about my grandparents’ dog Tawny and how she ran away while we were watching her circa 1979. But once my brother met my sister in law we were graced with Allie. She was the best yellow lab ever created. She lived with my parents off and on for years and finally became a permanent houseguest. My sister loved her most of all. She took such very good care of her – up until the very end. She was a brat. She hated other dogs but loved people. She liked peanut butter and bacon but hated eggs. She had the sweetest face you ever saw.
And she fell asleep for the last time last night.
Sleep well Boubah. We’ll miss you more than anything.
I'm so sorry, Krissy. This is so rough to go through on top of everything else. My heart goes out to you and your family.
ReplyDeleteAllie was 14 so we sort of accepted the inevitable but it still doesn't make it easy. Thanks for the good thoughts. We can use them!
ReplyDeleteAllie baby was going to be 15 in March. I think she left on Monday night so that I wouldn't have to take her out in this foot of snow today. Best lady there will ever be.
ReplyDeleteShe definitely was.
ReplyDelete:( oh no :(
ReplyDeleteI love that Allie so so much. I love that she barked for baby sweedish fish and hid her toys in the backyard. I am forever grateful to Allie for teaching me how to raise a lab. xoxo
ReplyDeleteI know we are biased but she really was such a great puppy. Give Abby a hug for me.
ReplyDeleteAwww. So glad you have so many great pictures of her. And I know what you mean, I like to think that my Mom is up there surrounded by family and friends, having a Manhatten, and watching over us.
