I hereby confess...

That initially I misspelled the title of this post.

Before I ran yesterday - this was my breakfast.

Although I might have eaten 1/2 before my run and 1/2 after.

Then this was my lunch. The last of my pasta salad did not actually fit in this mug and I ate the rest of it out of the plastic container I stored it in.

That plastic container - which I frugally tried to wash in my dishwasher for future use is now in the garbage since the top melted.

I hoard empty take out containers.

I went here for dinner.

I watched the home team not win and it was a shame. :(

I ate this.

Dave ate this. Yeah. He was there too. :)

This morning I made egg sandwiches for breakfast.

I ate this for lunch - cheddar and hummus on a sandwich thin.

But before lunch I ate a bag of Cheez-Its from the vending machine. The bag is in my gross garbage pail or else I'd take a picture.

I love Cheez-Its a lot.

And then I bought these to go with my lunch.

But I restrained myself and only ate a portion of the bag and then taped it up and threw it in my snack drawer.

I'm having salad with chicken for dinner.

The End.

2 for 1

I made the mistake of running outside this morning. It's too freaking hot.

I did about 2 out of the 3 miles I wanted to do. But at least the 2 was running/1 walking.

I have decided though all running will be done indoors until further notice.

You know when you know when it's time to start running in NYC?

When you pass a homeless guy pulling up his jeans by the running trail. Seriously NYC by the East River is not the place for the meek on a Tuesday morning.

Oddly enough when I made my way back he was wearing a set of light blue scrubs and brushing his teeth. :\

Last night in class we talked about what to do with our pieces, how to pitch them, how to spin them into other articles. I have a great option of where to submit my piece as is but I also talked about 2 other options.

1) How to eat light while dating.

I think I've done an OK job with this. I'm keeping a close eye on myself and I haven't gained much - if anything. I've seen the standard 1-2 pound gains losses that I've seen all this year. And I really do love eating out. Plus dating does have it's merits. :)

I'm not sure what to do. I'm happy. For the most part I could be this weight forever and be perfectly OK. I know how to eat now and am active enough to maintain as is.

But on the other hand I kind of miss the lifestyle of exercising close to 5x a week. I know. Pick me up off the floor. And this will be no surprise but I really, really miss Zumba. I miss the way I used to be disciplined and if I was going out I would work out in the morning. So my goal in the next few weeks is to find a balance. And to take a Zumba class if I can. I don't need to lose 50+ pounds anymore but I need to make sure they don't come back.

I'm not going to kill myself or beat myself up. It's the summer. I'm in a new relationship. I'm going to enjoy it.

(and use half of what I just typed there to put in a new article.) :)

2) Eating light while traveling for work.

Both of these ideas are mostly a no brainer. Eat salads not hamburgers for the most part. But I could spin the article and pitch it to a trade publication or an in-flight magazine.

So...it's exciting. I do not expect to really make a living writing but it's a great thing on the side. It's something I can do on my own time and it's something I really enjoy. Work is stressing me out right now (more just my own issues with the kind of work I'm doing and the way that work is perceived) and I think having another outlet will help a lot. And then we'll see what happens.

Today I am working from home. I have a webcast at 2:30 and then Dave and I are going here tonight.

I can already tell you dinner will be a hot dog so don't be too surprised.

Back later with my lunch!!!

All three

Sorry for the combined post, my patience is shot for work these days (not sure exactly why) and I have yet another busy week.

Here's what I'm eating today.

Breakfast - self explanatory.

Lunch - ham and swiss on a sandwich thin...

and dinner - whole wheat rotini, roasted chicken, roasted tomatoes, broccoli, baby spinach, basil and mozzarella - to be eaten during Food Writing class...

Back later (maybe tomorrow) with more. I am working from home tomorrow and am hoping to catch up with you all then.

Weekend in Pictures

(and a few words)

Here's what I've been up to this weekend. PS: I am half kidding about not telling you more about my life outside of what I eat. You'll get bits and pieces here and there about what's going on - no worries. :) I can't seem to help myself.

NYC Dinner....

Lunch at Ikea...

NJ Sushi...

Long Island Brunch...

Thursday Night

OK. Now I know where I am.

There was no trivia last night :( but there was telephone Pictionary and dinner.

I'm addicted to the hot pretzels at this place. Yum.

I had the Mediterraean Shrimp which was shrimp with pesto and tomatoes on garlic bread.

Dave had a dozen wings which were supposed to be half Jerk half Buffalo but they all looked the same.

By the way, he thinks you are more interested in his food than mine. I think you are more interested in him in general than my food but too bad for you.

This is still a food blog. ;)

On my walk home I grabbed some bagels from Murray's Bagels so that was my breakfast.

Whole wheat. Scallion cream cheese.

My mom stayed at my apartment last night. She has a meeting in the city today and I am meeting her after work for dinner I believe. Then the weekend is NJ Saturday, LI Sunday.

Stay tuned for more details. Are you as happy as me that it's Friday???

Not Thursday Night - More like Wednesday

Please note revised post title. Clearly I have no idea what day it even is.

Dave and I went to dinner at a movie last night. Dinner was good. Movie was eh.

We went to Nolita House.

We started with Carnitas Tacos.

I had the mussels special.

Dave had ribs.

We both had ice cream.

I have done virtually zero working out (save walking here and there) lately and that is NOT GOOD. I need to go back to Zumba. My gym now has a class but I'm pretty sure it won't hold a candle to Ben's.

Work has been so insane I feel like I could drink a vat of wine. I am going to trivia night in NJ - heading out in just a few - working from home tomorrow. There is crazy stormy weather her in NY now. I hope I don't get washed away.

I'm really sorry I've been such a mediocre blogger. :( Hopefully things will ease up somewhere soon.

We went to see Solitary Man. It was quite cringeworthy and depressing actually.

And the fact that Jenna Fischer was in it had nothing to do with why I went to see it.

At all. :)

Did I ever tell you about that time I met Michael Douglas in person and had 42 Cosmos beforehand? He was very gracious and practically patted my head when he realized my condition.

Class act right here.

Working Late

This is what happens when I work late. When the event is done I drink 1 (or two) of these.

These are Hard Lemonade which were the signature drink last night. It was just spiked enough and just sweet and tart enough. Delish.

And then take a taxi home.

The driver insisted we wear our seat belts. First time that's ever happened to me.

Then I got rid of these...

Please note: I did not pull a 'Barefoot Britney' in a NYC cab. I had flip flops in my bag.

Dinner last night was a bunch of the yummy hors d'oeuvres that we tasted a week or so ago. I may or may not have (but definitely did) eat 3 mini wasabi burgers.

This morning I had a ham and cheese sandwich for breakfast.

And this will be my lunch. Considering I'm in the studio from now until probably close to 5 PM I have no idea when I'll eat it. It's spinach, red bell pepper, roasted corn, vidalia onion, Laughing Cow Light Garlic and Herb and BBQ chicken.

I'm looking forward to eating it.

This week will not let up. I cannot wait for it to be over.

Dinner for lunch

Our cafe has a Cooking Light option for lunch. Since I don't know when I'm eating next I decided to try it. It's a heavier lunch than I'm used to but pretty tasty.

BBQ Chicken Breast, potatoes and asparagus. YUM.

Busy, busy day.

More later.

Sweet Potatoes

Good morning.

I fell asleep very early last night (like at around 9:30) which was awesome because I clearly needed an attitude adjustment. I had an annoying day at work and even skipped my class. I hate when my mood gets in the way of something I love but I clearly needed a break.

Before I went to sleep I made dinner. Mashed sweet potatoes with crispy onions, panko coated boneless pork chop with honey mustard and some peas for greenery.

I like ketchup with my pork chops. Does that make me weird?

Breakfast was PB on a sandwich thin (unpictured).

Lunch is up in the air. I have a sandwich to eat this afternoon as I am assisting at an event tonight and who knows when I'll get to the hors oeuvres.

See you later!!

Weekend

I love hydrangeas. My mom has 3 of them growing in the front and back yard. I actually took a big bunch home with me today too. Yay for summer and flowers!!

I feel like I've been running around a lot lately. As a result - I have been unplugging a bit on the weekends. I apologize for the lack of posts but I'm thinking...particularly for the summer...this might be a growing trend.

Not that I don't love you - I do. I just love being out and about more than behind my computer. :)

Thursday I went for a 3 mile run - the first in ages.

Friday I went into the office and ate a turkey sandwich with fake french fries.

They were not very good.

Then I took my dad out to dinner at Wild Fig. He had lentil soup and a Greek salad. I had hummus and chicken and shrimp kabobs with rice.

Both delicious. I saved one of those pitas and the leftover hummus. Jen and I ate it last night.

Late Friday Dave came out to LI as well. I made scrambled eggs and bacon for breakfast both Saturday and Sunday.

And burgers and hot dogs for lunch (only the burgers got a picture - sorry!).

They were awesome - if I do say so myself.

Dinner was sausage and pepper heros from the Fire Dept Fair around the block from my parents. So delicious I forgot to photograph them!!

Sunday my mom and Jen came back from Florida. We went to the American Cafe for lunch to celebrate Father's Day. I had the Grilled Chicken + Goat Cheese + Pesto sandwich. I asked for potato salad - they gave me fries.

So I had to eat them. I ate the other half of this sandwich for lunch today.

Dinner was BBQ chicken over salad, corn on the cob and ice box cake for Jen's birthday. I set the table all pretty.

Did you ever make ice box cake?? You need to. All it is is fresh whipped cream and chocolate wafers. I may have eaten two covered in whipped cream while assembling. :)

I put two rows side by side because I didn't have a platter long enough. Works just fine!

This morning it was peanut butter on an EM and about a 2 mile walk with my mom.

UGH. This post took forever to upload today. Some of the pictures would not cooperate. I'm tired, headachy and a little bit grumpy tonight so I'll see you later.
