Too many snacks

I haven't had dinner and I'm not sure I plan to as I've had too many snacks. And can I just say that hormonal eating really is the pits. I'm thisclose to going out to Baskin-Robbins for chocolate peanut butter ice cream.

It's also an explanation for eating nearly a whole pound bag of pretzel niblets in the last 3 days and the consumption of a can of Utz sour cream and onion dip (yeah I said can and yeah I didn't exactly show you that) so there is that.

Instead I'm thinking of heating up some turkey meatballs and watching The Pelican Brief on the Lifetime Movie Network.

I should have gone with the ice cream. Then I'd be the total cliche.

I started the day with Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte. Sex and the City 2 has nothing on the show or even the first movie. The whole (slight spoiler alert) part near the end with Samantha when Carrie goes back to see the shoe guy (and the women who ask them to follow them) was totally unnecessary IMHO. And I'm sorry - I wanted more city (not to mention sex) but the clothes (and shoes) were fabulous.

Worth the $6 early matinee price though I'd say.

So this is what I had for breakfast.

The other half of this bag is still sitting above my fridge.

And this for lunch. Yes. I ate it cold. Why do you ask?

I've had that chocolate in my fridge since the NYC Food & Wine Festival. It was good. Like a dark chocolate Twix.

And in honor of Ms. Bradshaw-Preston I also did this...

I love shoes. And now they are all tucked away safely. It only took me three months to tackle it. I did the closets and the drawers and my armoire today. Tomorrow will be laundry and scrubbing my kitchen floor till it shines, cleaning the hardwood and making the bathroom sparkle.

I'll tell you what. In my next life I'm going to have a full time housekeeper. It'd be a little odd right now to have live in help. They'd have to sleep on my couch. :)

Wow. Seriously. I'm just lucky there isn't a tearjerkery movie on tonight. I'm totally in that kind of wallowy mood and that's no fun for anyone.

So on that note I'll say nighty night. Sleep tight.

B,L&D

And now I give you my meals for today. Full disclosure - also eaten today and unpictured - lots and lots of pretzels. For some reason I'm a munch monster these days.

I don't feel so bad about it today as I walked the 6 miles to/from the Brooklyn Bridge and ran the last half mile home.

Of course - then there's my dinner which I thought I deserved for my efforts. :)

Tomorrow - early - I'm going to attempt to do laundry. Then catch the 10:20 am show of Sex and the City 2. People say it sucks, and that it's missing both sex and the city but I'll pay half price to see it. :)

Then I am going to clean my kitchen floor till it finally shines. I've been just glossing the surface for months now and it's time to get my hands dirty.

I know. Incredibly exciting life I lead. Don't be jealous.

It's time to switch between the Yankee game and clear out my DVR.

Have a lovely evening.

Bites and Burgers

Lunch was yum yum yummy yesterday. Patti has an event at the Hotel Gansevoort that I am helping her with in a few weeks so we had a taste of what's going to be served.

The event will be held at Plunge the rooftop bar near the pool.

The tasting was held in Tanuki Tavern. I loved the decor.

(Counter Clockwise) Close up of Chicken Satay, BBQ Chicken wrapped in Cucumber, Lobster tart, Spicy Beef wonton, Risotto cake, Marinated Tomatoes on a lavash in the center.

Tuna roll, Burger w/wasabi mayo a (hidden) crabcake)

Passionfruit Cheesecake. I don't typically eat any dessert that is not chocolate but I actually liked this.

Dinner was in NJ at Pub Trivia!! And we won!!! I am proud to say (is proud the right word?) my extensive knowledge of America's Next Top Model came in handy.

I cannot pass up hot pretzels - and by this time we were STARVING!

I had a BBQ Cheddar Turkey Burger and I ate almost all of it.

Dave had a Cuban sandwich with too much ham and broccoli on the side.

And that's all the news for now. My cupboard is pretty bare so the eats might not be too inspiring in the next few days. I'll do my best though.

I am so glad it is Friday you don't even know.

Or maybe...you do. :)

All I've got for you...

...is this peanut butter sandwich.

The rest of my meals promise more excitement. I'm heading to a tasting at the Hotel Gansevoort. I almost forgot and rushed upstairs this morning to stash my lunch back in the fridge.

We will be sampling the following:

Canapé selections:

Hot:
-Risotto cakes with vintage balsamic and truffle oil
-Crab cakes with chive aioli
-Mini burgers with wasabi mayonnaise

Cold:
-Caramelized fennel and picholine olive tarts
-Spicy bbq chicken salad cucumber rolls with cashews
-Spicy tuna maki

Dessert:
Passed miniature desserts

and then tonight I'm heading to NJ for dinner and trivia. The menu is to include grilled chicken, potatoes and rumor has it - brussel sprouts.

I'll give you a full report later.

Happy Thursday!!

Finally

I had one glass of wine with Patti after work, braved the subway and the rain and headed home. A pot of tomato sauce later (with defrosted turkey meatballs) and all is righter with the world.

More or less.

I'm going to show you the carbo loading, comfort fooding fiesta that has transpired in the last two days.

Lunch yesterday, egg casserole + ricotta + spinach

Dinner last night (after the myriad nibbles and bites and handfuls) goat cheese roasted red pepper ravioli topped with spinach, caramelized (or crispy) onions and red bell pepper.

Breakfast this AM, homemade bread w/a wedge of Laughing Cow Light Garlic & Herb

Lunch - pasta salad with some spinach tossed in.

Dinner tonight (after handfuls of pretzels) spaghetti and turkey meatballs (made by my Dad).

I'm stuffed to the gills and really looking forward to looking at the back of my eyelids soon.

OH!

With all my wallowing in self pity I completely forgot to mention that I had some interesting encounters on my way to work this morning (the day started SO well - it just ended up crappy).

First - in Madison Square Park I saw this girl....

and this guy (who..um...I might have mentioned here before)..

...filming a movie based on this book - which I also really loved. I'm such a sucker for Chick Lit. And I adored Ginnifer in He's Just Not That Into You.

The other guy is OK too. He does alright on some sitcom. ;)

And then outside the Carlton Hotel I saw a line of women looking to be cast on this woman's show...

Can you even believe it??? All within about 6 blocks of my apartment. I really truly love this city. The day had such potential but now I'm just happy to see it go.

Goodnight dear bloggy ones. See you in the AM.

PS: I really truly would love some feedback on my first article for class. If you don't want to comment here please feel free to email at singleserving[dot]km@gmail[dot]com.
