Enough Already

Man I need a break. A break from not being at home, a break from eating out all of the time. A break from wakes and funerals.

Except for the latter (I hope!) unfortunately - that's not coming anytime soon.

Here's the recap.

Saturday was miserable - I was sure that the performance would be cancelled because it was pouring freezing rain (it wasn't!) I talked to my mom and I heard my nieces in the background and made a decision to go to LI and help them trim the tree.

I had a snack first...

and then there's the tree.

The lights look kinda screwy when it's dark!

We ordered pizza for dinner...

And salad...

My plate.

My mom made breakfast the next day. Actually - Jen made the eggs which were scrambled with cheddar cheese.

I went out and ran. Well. I tried to run. There was a bit of a wardrobe malfunction. Basically - I was wearing a sports bra that zipped up the front. The zipper separated about a mile in and was hanging on for dear life. So I wound up walking the rest of the way.

Seriously. Do these things only happen to me??

I didn't eat again - save some really bad Salt and Cracked Pepper Peanuts (Duane Reade Brand - really awful and vinegar-y tasting)and some French Onion Sun Chips snuck while we were at the wake and then there was dinner at Cronin and Phelan's

Pinot...

Honey Wings and Boneless Buffalo Tenders. I had 2 wings and 1 tender total.

I had the shell steak salad over spinach with a lemon balsamic vinaigrette. I only ate about half of this.

Jen and I went out after we came home and fed Allie for one more glass of wine. We toasted my Grandma - who didn't drink. It's the thought that counts though I think. :)

Monday morning I had a sourdough bagel - half with scallion cream cheese, half with butter.

Lunch was at Manetta's Restaurant. It was delicious. It was also great to get to see my aunts, uncles and cousins - who all live either way upstate or out of state (or even the country) these days. My grandmother had 18 grandchildren.

Unlike that Duggar lady - who has 18 kids. I saw something she was in the hospital today. I hope she's ok but can't help but think her body is also telling her "enough already!!"

Anyway - I was talking about lunch wasn't I?

We started with Caprese Salad.

And bread and butter.

And wine...

Rigatoni Marinara

And Chicken Parmesan

And chocolate biscotti for dessert - I had about 3 of these little guys.

So on Sunday I didn't have lunch and Monday I didn't have dinner. I think that evens itself out don't you?

This morning I had a half a bagel with scallion cream cheese for breakfast.

My dad went and got delicious rolls for us to make sandwiches today. I had turkey and cheese with honey mustard and a few chips on the side.

I'm going to go to the gym, then make dinner via a recipe from Real Simple which involves pasta and sweet potatoes. Then I have to pack and get ready to attempt to fly to Chicago tomorrow morning.

Nothing these days seems to be easy.

SIGH.

  1. "Nothing these days seems to be easy."

Untrue. Looking in the mirror now is easy. ;)
