Boca Burgers (and other goodies)

I'm actually back home and perched on my own comfy bed with my laptop.

I loved every minute of my vacation but I can't lie. It's SO good to be back.

I'm not a nervous flyer AT ALL but when we almost touched down at LaGuardia and then ascended again and circled for about 20 minutes I got a little queasy. Add the cab ride home and it was not pretty.

After my stomach settled I made a yummy veggie filled pasta dinner and will post details tomorrow. It was a tad spicy and my mouth is still a bit on fire.

But in a very good way.

Yesterday was spent with my sister (who flew down to FL on Friday) and my cousin. We started off with lunch and ended with a delicious dinner.

As expensive as Miami was - Boca Raton is deal central.

And the food? Delicious.

I had been craving a burger all week - so that's what I had yesterday. It didn't hurt that it was 2 for 1 burger day at Bru's Room in Deerfield Beach.

We were going to go to the beach but it was way too hot - so we went back to my cousin's place and sat by (and in) the pool.

We went to happy hour where I had one very sweet margarita (no pic - but trust me - it was super sweet) and then we did some shopping and went to dinner.

I bought these jeans on sale 50% off. I have not bought jeans outside of Old Navy in about 7 years. I love the way these look on me. I decided they are my 50 lb present to myself. They are slightly tight (but totally wearable). At 50% off they are only slightly more expensive than jeans from The Gap so I don't feel too bad about it if (and when!) I grow out of them. I'll just buy a smaller pair.

Then we went for a very delicious dinner in Delray Beach.

We started with a salad (everything shared 3 ways):

Then had some yummy mussels marinara:

And some fantabulous garlic rolls:

The Al Fresco Pizza (I had one slice):

Fresh diced tomatoes, basil, roasted garlic, olive oil and mozzarella cheese

And some vino - which was Pinot (Grigio):

My last official Miami meal was an order of coconut shrimp at the airport (there were about 12 and I left maybe 5 on my plate with a few fries):

So there you have it. A sampling of what I ate while I was away. This weekend I will be out on the eastern end of LI with my family and my dad will be doing most of the cooking. I'll have plenty of time to update - so stay tuned.

2 days of work and then I'm on vacation again.

It's a rough life. :)

  1. It all looks very yummy and it's so great how you've changed your lifestyle. Even on vacation, you're being smart. :)
