What a difference a year makes.

In a concerted effort to not be that way this morning I've decided to take stock of the difference between this year and last.

It's really quite amazing when I see it all written down.

Last year I weighed over 200 pounds. This year I weigh over 50 pounds less than that.

This time last year I was almost a size 20. This year I am almost a size 10.

This time last year I was out of breath walking up the stairs in the subway. This year I'm getting ready to run a 5k.

This time last year at this time I was so miserable I cried for days and wanted to eat a whole pizza in one sitting. This year I cried for hours and worked out instead.

Some things haven't really changed at all. I still live in a teeny apartment. I am still slowly trying to get myself out of the red and into the black. I am still trying to find the one thing I can do that will make me excited about getting up and going to work every day. I don't have a lot of the things I want, like a husband or kids but I do have an amazing family, two gorgeous nieces and the best friends ever.

My blessings are many. Sometimes I seem to forget and it's important to remember.

Today is my birthday and for the first time in about a decade I'm not going to cry when I get dressed because I can't fit in anything. I'm not going to tell all my friends to forget it - I'm not celebrating at all like I did last year. Today I'm going to go to the gym, go watch some tennis, maybe eat something not exactly good for me and be with my family who love me as much today as they did when I could barely fit in a stadium seat.

Today I don't have everything I want but today I'm going to remember that what I have really is more than enough.

PS: This is a food blog more than anything so here's what I had for breakfast. :) See you later!
