I'm not a big sushi fan.
I don't really like tuna unless it's in a gold Bumblebee can. I once had raw tuna - but I had it at Matsuhisa in Aspen. I figure it couldn't get much better and decided not to bother to try again. There are plenty of other fish in the sea. :)
But tonight I met Carrie at Yama on E 17th Street. It would be really hard to find if not for the line outside the door. It was cramped and efficient but the staff was still friendly. We did know that our time was up as the manager was stalking our table but still. The food was worth it.
Even I know that's good sushi.
Just make sure you eat quick. There are a ton of people waiting.
Still didn't have raw tuna though. :)
I had two of these:
Then some shumai...
Then some California Rolls (inside out and regular) and an inside out Special Roll #1 - which was shrimp, cucumber and flying fish roe with spicy mayo and avocado.
Carrie had the tuna. :)
Man, it's cold out. I came home craving tea.
Tea and cookies.
These Joe Joe's should have never entered my house. They are like the most glorious Oreos you ever ate. The cream is all vanilla beany and just delicious.
I swear to you - if you don't live in a place where there is a Trader Joe's start petitioning now. It's the very best thing in America.
And now, I bid you adieu. Tomorrow I will share the horrific state of my kitchen and how the next time you hear me say "I stopped at the store" you need to slap me.
Thank you in advance.
